José Muñoz - Luces y Sombra |

"Luces y Sombra" was de eerste grote overzichts-tentoonstelling met origineel werk van de Argentijnse striptekenaar José Muñoz in Vlaanderen. Het decor voor de strips van het duo Muñoz (tekeningen) en Sampayo (scenario) is onveranderlijk de anonieme grootstad, gekenmerkt door menselijke vervreemding, sociaal onrecht en de wet van de sterkste: Muñoz weet die wereld knap te evoceren met zijn sombere, expressieve zwart-witcontrasten zonder grijs.
Bron van troost in deze stedelijke jungle is de muziek, die een vaak weerkerend thema vormt in reeksen als Alack Sinner en Joe’s Bar, en in het bijzonder in het album Billie Holiday. |

Schuiten & Peeters |

Van december 2004 tot februari 2005 was er "De poorten van de utopie", een een verbluffende tentoonstelling over het werk van Schuiten en Peeters, met o.m. een ruime selectie originele werken, waaronder ook zeldzame en onuitgegeven beelden.
De doorgedreven vormgeving en de sfeervolle belichting dompelen de bezoeker volledig onder in het bevreemdende universum van deze twee topauteurs. |

Dave McKean - Narcolepsy |

With "Narcolepsy", Beeld Beeld organised the first large retrospective about McKean on the European continent. The show departs from a central "bed"-room, and leads the visitor on to the various aspects of McKean’s impressive universe.
Besides original comic illustrations, the exhibition also shows a large selection of art pictures, children’s books, recent paintings, advertising work, illustrations and CD-covers. The artist’s short movies will be shown continuously in the best possible circumstances, and the audio spectacle Signal to Noise will be played too. |

The first realization of Beeld Beeld, the double-exposition “Pioneers in the American comic world : Daniel Clowes/Chris Ware”, was an instant success. More than three thousand people visited this exposition in 3 Flemish cultural centres in Leuven, Mechelen and Sint Niklaas.
